We applaud your commitment to continued education.

Introduction: whether you’re reshoring or offshoring, globalization and the digital economy present opportunities, risks and challenges, and it’s vital to stay up-to-date and master the tools available to develop strong supplier relationships, back-up plans and options. CUSMA, our new trade agreement with the United States and Mexico, replacing NAFTA July 1st, CETA and the TPP are such tools and our training sessions are designed so you maximize the benefits offered by these trade agreements.

WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY:

Taking this course will make you more empowered when dealing with suppliers, shippers, carriers, banks, freight forwarders, customs brokers, CBSA and other Participating Government Agencies involved in your international supply chain in North America, Europe and in the Pacific region.

Module 1.

1.1.Free Trade Agreements basics

  • How they work/how they are structured
  • Rules of origin, product-specific rules of origin, origin certification
  • Cumulation of origin, ‘’de minimis’’ exemptions, transhipments, anti-dumping and countervailing duties, transhipments
  • The responsibilities of seller and buyer

1.2.NAFTA/CUSMA detailed review

  • NAFTA history and CUSMA timelines
  • General review of CUSMA changes, new chapters, most affected industries
  • Detailed review of the CUSMA changes in rules of origin and origin certification process
  • Other changes: IP, e-commerce, “de minimis”, refunds, compliance

Module 2. Canada’s other major Free Trade Agreements

2.1.Detailed study of CETA, Canada’s Free Trade Agreement with the European Union

  • History and timeline: do you know this has been in effect since Sept 2017?
  • The countries involved and CETA’s main provisions
  • Focus on the trade in goods, preferential tariff treatment, rules of origin
  • Focus on services and government procurement

2.2.Detailed study of the CPTPP, Canada’s Free Trade Agreement with Pacific countries

  • History and timeline: do you know this has been in effect since December 2018?
  • The countries involved and the CPTPP’s main provisions
  • Focus on the trade in goods, preferential tariff treatment, rules of origin
  • Focus on services and government procurement

2.3.Canada’s other Free Trade Agreements: brief review and future possibilities

Taking this course will make you empowered when dealing with suppliers, shippers, carriers, banks, freight forwarders, customs brokers, CBSA and other Participating Government Agencies involved in your international purchases and help you build a diversified and efficient supply chain.

Interactive Workshop Cancellation/Refund Policy:

A full refund will be issued on cancellations received in writing at least 10 business days prior to the workshop start date. An administration fee of $150.00 is applicable if notification is received between three and nine days prior to start date. Thereafter no refund will be available. Substitutions and transfer of registrations is permissible when received in writing three business days before the workshop start date. Credits to be used for future offerings are valid for 12 months from the date of initial payment and will expire if not used in that time frame.

Interactive Workshop Cancellation/Rescheduling:

In the event of a workshop being cancelled or rescheduled, prior notification will be given to registrants by phone or e-mail, with the option of a full refund of registration fees or transfer of registration to another Supply Chain Canada offering.
