Student of International Trade Award |
This award recognizes a female student or recent graduate (as of April 2023) of international trade who, through her studies and business/community experience, has demonstrated passion and commitment for a career in the field of international trade. Please note that OWIT Board Members are not eligible for this award. 2023 WINNER Oluwayomi Dime, Centennial College (R) with Clare Barnett, Brampton Economic Development Oluwayomi is a student at Centennial College and participated in an eight-week training course on the importation process from China. She is employed with a Nigerian manufacturing company. She has leveraged knowledge from International Marketing and Innovation lectures to enhance social channels. Oluwayomi has demonstrated a keen understanding of cultural diversity, beliefs, and values. She adapts to cultural norms such as respecting Chinese New Year and observing Islamic prayers in Turkey, for effective community and collaboration. 2022 WINNER Natalie Jiang, Centennial College (R) with Kathleen Wang , BennettJones Natalie Jiang of Centennial College has successfully led several projects in international finance. The former Lufthansa employee has completed her Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association Certificate and is passionate about working in the FinTech industry. 2020 WINNER Rachel Zlatar, McMaster University Rachel is in the Bachelor of Commerce program at McMaster University. She has held a leading brand ambassador role for the Queen’s University Conference on International Business since her freshman year. Rachel started as a volunteer with LatAm Startups in March 2020 working with international start-ups. Rachel is now working with LatAm Startups focusing on Strategic Partnerships. Outside of her work and school, Rachel has developed Suenos Del Mundo, a technology-based social enterprise providing a digital presence to street vendors and micro-enterprises in tourism hubs across Latin America. When borders open, she will map and work directly with female-led micro enterprises to build their digital presence and promote their products and services to visiting tourists. Questions?
