Alma Farias

Alma is the Ontario Representative for the Trade Facilitation Office (TFO) Canada, an organization that promotes trade between Canada and emerging economy countries. She is also part of the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) Consulting Network. Alma has extensive experience assisting companies and organizations to conduct business development in Canada and abroad in a wide range of sectors and industries. These include the Food, Garment and Consumer Products sectors, as well as the Automotive Manufacturing and Telecommunications industries, among others. Alma assists clients by identifying local business partners and projects. She has developed international sales and supply networks as well as key government, association and investor relations. Alma also has coordinated visits of high level international delegations and organizes international conferences and trade missions.


An active volunteer in numerous business associations, Alma has served on the OWIT International Board of Directors along with her roles with OWIT-Toronto. She also served as Vice President of the Canadian Council for the Americas and the Brazil Canada Chamber of Commerce in Toronto. Alma is a co-founder of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Monterrey, Mexico. She was the recipient of OWIT-Toronto’s 2014 JoAnna Townsend Excellence Award for Leadership in International Trade. A native of Monterrey, Mexico and now a Canadian citizen, Alma has been a consultant in Canada for over 20 years. She is a Chartered Accountant, and holds certificates of specialization in Industrial Costing and Human Resources Management.
